Clifton Presbyterian Church

The renovation and addition to this historic church was shaped by the preservation of the existing manse and conformance to the restrictive design guidelines of the Town of Clifton. A new fellowship hall with commercial kitchen and classrooms make up most of the building addition, adding 8,000 square feet to the modest 7,000 s.f. existing building. An inventive reorientation of the sanctuary allows the seating capacity to be increased from 120 to 150 people while maintaining the integrity of the historic stone structure. A stained glass rose window that was only visible from the attic or exterior of the building is now opened to the interior of the sanctuary.

The front façade features a new stone-arched entrance vestibule that links the existing stone sanctuary to the new addition. The new fellowship space opens through spacious french doors to a wrap-around front porch on the first level, extending down

to a newly defined front lawn. All details of the architectural components, from front porch to parking light fixtures, are in keeping with the historic Town of Clifton.
