Engine Company 27 & Fleet Ready Reserve

The District of Columbia Engine Co. 27 and Fleet Ready Buildings consist of a 2 bay, 9,300 SF, two story fire station and two fleet ready buildings with drive-through bays. The stations compact design provides crew quarters for 10 firefighter/EMT’s, and a large kitchen and sitting area that opens to an adjacent covered outdoor patio. Due to its location, the engine company utilizes flood proofing design components to protect against 500 year floods. The fleet ready buildings house the department’s reserve fleet of 6 tiller/ladder trucks, 16 engine/pumpers, and 9 EMS vehicles and feature vegetative roofs as an integral strategy for storm water management.
