The theme of the 2018 Firehouse World conference was New Challenges-Same Priorities, underscoring the fire services’s unwavering commitment to their ever-present priorities; life safety, incident stabilization and property preservation. As part of this years’ conference, Paul Erickson was invited to present Hot Zone Design–Reducing Cancer in the Fire Station. This advanced thinking in the design of present day fire stations helps control contaminants within the station with the goal of reducing cancer in firefighters.
