Kensington Apartments

Kensington Place, a 315 unit apartment community, in Woodbridge, Virginia was developed by Van Metre Companies. LeMay Erickson Willcox Architects provided the master planning and schematic design for this multifamily rental community which is comprised of two structures. The south building is a four story garden community with a total of 129 one, two, and three bedroom units. The ground floor contains an amenity space incorporating a leasing office, exercise and fitness center, clubroom, and a resort style pool and pool house in the courtyard. The north building is comprised of four stories of elevator accessed residences (a total of 186 one and two bedroom units ) above a two story parking garage that is partially below grade.

The building exterior is carefully articulated with projected facades, balconies, stack stone banding, pilasters and gable roofs to help reduce the scale of the buildings and fit within the architectural language of the Van Metre brand.

In addition to design, LeMay Erickson Willcox Architects served as the Architectural HUD inspecting architect during the construction process. Our role included ensuring that the project was built in accordance with federal design and housing regulations as well as ensuring a conformance with the construction documents.
