Our Lady of Good Counsel

This extensive project includes master planning and design for multi-phased additions and renovations to an existing church and school complex on a 24-acre site in Vienna, Virginia. The project was designed to allow the existing K-8 school and church facility to remain open throughout the construction process.

Phase I includes a two-story multi-purpose hall with commercial kitchen, a high school regulation size gym, music room and computer lab. Phase II consists of a greatly expanded narthex gathering area for the existing 1,000-seat church, and a new entrance façade, stair hall, and administrative offices for the school. Phase III adds a contemporary new chapel seating 100 persons, designed for daily masses, weddings and funerals.

The winner of numerous design awards, the chapel is noteworthy for its inventive and elegant use of brick and light to create a spiritually evocative space.
