Shreveport Ridge Apartments
Shreveport Ridge, a 98 unit “workforce housing”family apartment community, in Brambleton, Virginia was developed by TM Associates in partnership with The Windy Hill Foundation. LeMay Erickson Willcox Architects designed this multifamily rental community which is comprised of four three-story structures with two-story townhouses above one-story flats. All first-floor units are accessible by individuals with disabilities, in compliance with the VHDA’s Universal Design criteria, as a part of the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program. Features include more spacious bathrooms, some of which feature roll-in showers with upgraded fixtures, clear floor area for a wheel chair turn around and an accessible workspace in the kitchen, and removable cabinetry at kitchen sinks. Ground floor amenity space includes a leasing office, property management office, maintenance office, computer lab and community room.
The building exterior is carefully articulated with projected facades, low metal roofs, dormers and gable roofs to help reduce the scale of the four buildings and fit within the architectural language of the predominantly single family Brambleton community.
The project is a certified Earthcraft “green community”, and features an extensive energy efficient ground source geothermal mechanical system, Energy Star appliances, low-flow water sense plumbing fixtures and advanced insulation and framing techniques intended to reduce energy consumption and provide a cleaner and healthier indoor environment.
