Willingboro Fire and EMS Headquarters Station 16

LeMay Erickson Willcox Architects was selected by the Township of Willingboro to design a new headquarters building that will improve current operations and combine the existing Fire and EMS Departments. The new HQ Station will also consolidate three separate fire stations onto the Township’s largest central site in a single structure. The site is reorganized to accommodate the new building’s orientation, parking and additional site development requirements.

The existing 20,000 square foot, one-story building was constructed in the 1960’s. The structure has become seriously antiquated and is incapable of properly serving the administrative HQ offices and Fire/EMS needs of the Department. The new building design is a two-story structure without basement totaling approximately 41,000 square feet in area. The new building expands operational and support functions such as private bunkrooms with pass-through lockers for 19 crew members, residential toilet/shower rooms, large kitchen/dining room, dayroom, large fitness training room, as well as the HQ Administrative offices for both the Fire and EMS departments. The new design also features a large sub-dividable training classroom seating a total of 80 people (40 students in each smaller room) that can be accessed through a public lobby and used by outside groups. The final design provides eight drive-through bays with bi-fold doors, bay support spaces with mezzanine storage and on-site training features.
